Good Girl Books is a warm, inviting space designed for the intellectually curious and socially engaged. Located on the ground floor of a mixed-use building in Culver City, this 1,300-square-foot project seamlessly integrates a thoughtfully curated bookstore with a café and wine bar, creating a dynamic cultural anchor for the neighborhood.

The plan is organized around two primary zones: a long, linear island at the heart of the bookstore serves as the main point of sale and display, while a generous counter and flexible seating area activate the adjacent corner, fostering moments of pause, conversation, and community. A built-in pop-up stage is subtly integrated into the layout to support readings, performances, and other events, allowing the space to transform fluidly throughout the day. Support spaces—including restrooms, storage, and delivery access—are discreetly located at the rear.

Materially, the space is defined by a palette of warm wood surfaces and custom millwork that wraps the interior in a sense of quiet elegance. Floor-to-ceiling modular shelving lines most walls, creating an immersive visual tapestry of books and ephemera. Larger apertures punctuate the shelving system to feature artworks, sculptural pieces, and rare volumes, establishing a rhythm of discovery throughout the space.

Accents in deep reds and earthy tones—drawn from Good Girl Books’ branding—highlight key nodes for gathering, browsing, and lingering. The result is a space that is both refined and approachable, where literature, design, and hospitality intersect.
